A River Runs Through It

Yesterday morning found the kids and I tramping through the mud near Blackwater Creek. My wife and our littlest one stood guard up on the paved trail while the rest of us plunged over the bank and through the woods on our way to adventure. The box we were seeking had only minimal clues, and those clues were pretty vague. We spent a good bit of time peering under rocks in the area where we expected to find the box, but to no avail. We decided to follow the creek through the woods a bit rather than giving up though, and a little ways on we found what we were looking for:
