Okay, Okay. I realize that the term "public school" meant something different in second-century Rome than it does today. I nevertheless love this bit of advice that Marcus Aurelius received from his great-grandfather and recorded in his Meditations.
"To avoid the public schools, to hire good private teachers, and to accept the resulting costs as money well-spent."
