Boldness in His Presence

The sermon text today talks about some aspects of the decorum of entering into God’s presence for worship.

It’s the norm in many parts of the modern church to act as if, because we are adopted as children and heirs of the king, we may therefore enter the king’s presence in a casual, breezy, familiar way. This is nothing short of insolence. Our heavenly Father’s presence is indeed a place of welcome, of love, and of warmth, but He is still no tame lion.

And yet, as His children you are called to enter His presence boldly. You are His beloved children, not worms. You don’t need to come in a shrinking, timid way. Instead, you are able come with a bold humility, confident in the work of Jesus on your behalf. You come clothed in His righteousness, forgiven of your sins, and able to stand in the light of His glory.
