Purchased Possession

You do not stand here before the Lord because you were smarter than other people. You do not receive the promise of the Lord because you were more virtuous than other people. You do not enjoy the blessing of the Holy Spirit and the communion of the saints because you had more potential than other people. Rather you have been bought out of the slave market of sin by the blood of Jesus Christ.

No longer are you a slave to sin, but you are the purchased possession of God. You are not your own, and therefore you do not keep or preserve yourself. And in this you have a great consolation. As you fight again sin, and seek to honor God in your life, you will continue to fail, to need repentance and restoration, but sin is no longer your master. You are the property of God who bought you, and He will not allow His property to be taken from Him. Have faith in His promise to you.
