Complaining and Grumbling

The two main sins of Old Testament Israel were: first, failing to remember the great deliverance that God worked for them, and second, failing to give thanks for all God’s blessings. What we see instead is that almost immediately after God delivered His people out of slavery by destroying their enemies and leading them safely through the Red Sea, the people started complaining and grumbling against God and against Moses

Because of sin, we have a hard time seeing the world as it really is. In our pride we think we deserve far better than we’re getting. And so we want to complain about the circumstances God has placed us in. This is true regarding your home and your family, your work, and your church. But unless God has given you the authority and the ability to provide a solution for the supposed problem that is vexing you, then all you’re doing when you talk about it is grumbling and complaining, and this is prohibited by scripture. Remember that God has given you far better than you deserve by delivering you from your slavery to sin and making you alive by the death and resurrection of Christ. So give thanks to Him for your great deliverance.
