The Leaven of Sin

You may think when you commit a sin that it’s only a very little one. A little bitterness, a little envy, little anger, a little lie, a little lust. But a little leaven leavens the whole lump. A little sin doesn’t stay sealed off in its own little place in your heart. It leavens your whole soul, it grows and spreads until your once little sin becomes part of your character, and it brings with it all manner of other interconnected sins.

Scripture says to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof. Root out the little sins in your life by quick repentance before they start to grow. Now is a good time to start that. The hard feelings you have against someone in this room, the argument you had on the way to church, the bad attitude you’ve brought here with you this morning, now is the time to confess those sins, and be cleansed.
